Illinois communities can apply to bring in more local food options


SPRINFIELD, Ill. – There is new state funding available now to help build out more options for local food to get to your community.

the Illinois Stewardship Alliance is coordinating the new Illinois Local Food Infrastructure Grant Program. Nearly $2 million in state funds will be handed out for building up transportation options and food kitchens. It will help to get more local food products out to people more easily.

Grants will be awarded of up to $150,000 per project, and at least 12 projects are expected to be funded. Recipients announced in March.
