One interior designer has revealed the style trends she wants to kick out of the back door in 2024.

They are far too passé for any self-respecting homeowner, she said.

But there is one boring home decor trend that should be illegal.

Brianna Via (@brialiving) has 181,000 followers on TikTok.

She uses the platform to share her love of design and style and has some strong ideas.

“Interior design, home décor, and budget-friendly DIYs” is her general remit.

But in this post, she tackled some outdated interior design trends.

She wanted them consigned to the trash bin.

WALL STICKERS

No, no, no, she said. Go for something more original.

“These wall decals in kids’ rooms. Just paint a mural,” she wrote.

“It looks so much better.”

FURNITURE SETS

Get rid of them, because nothing says old hat more than these.

“Furniture sets are so boring. They’re bland,” she said.

“You’re scared to take the risk, get matching tones.

“I promise you, it’ll still look good.”

CHANDELIER FIXTURES IN DARK COLORS

These ceiling ornaments will do your living space no favors.

“Heavy chandelier fixtures in black or dark gray, especially in small spaces will weigh down the room so much,” she wrote.

“There are so many lighting options which will just open up the space and feel better.”

STAINED WOOD

“Unnaturally stained orange wood” is history, she said.

“Most of the time you can sand the wood and get the stain out.

“I’m not saying warm tones of wood are bad, but the natural color under is going to be better and will instantly look less outdated,” she said as she rounded up her list of dos and don’ts for 2024.
