In Milan, Il Bisonte and Shawn Henderson Reveal Their 2nd Collection Together

The New York-based interior designer Shawn Henderson has unveiled another home goods collection in partnership with leather goods brand Il Bisonte at Salone de Mobile in Milan today. This marks their second collaboration together.

Henderson looked towards the Bauhaus, especially those of Wilhelm Wagenfield (think of his famous chrome lamp made in 1924). Taking the utilitarian ethos of the school and Il Bistonte’s signature vegetable-tanned leather, Henderson created The Keepsake Box: a group of small stackable storage components for office goods. The pieces were made by artisans in Tuscany and the set is available in the colorways natural, navy blue, and black.

Henderson was inspired by the ethos of the Bauhaus.

“In continuing my collaboration with Il Bisonte, I was curious about exploring the relationship between personal and public, which we experience every day in New York City,” Henderson said in a release. ” There’s something romantic about the thought that what’s special to you may be different from what’s special tome. A keepsake for you might be rocks and foraged curiosities, but it could be rare books and photographs for someone else. One thing we all want is a beautiful place to store our special things. I wanted to create a collection of crafted leather forms that allow you to store and keep the important things to you, reinforcing that There’s A Home For Everything.

Just last year at the design fair, Henderson transformed Il Bisonte’s signature vegetable-tanned leathers (seen on the brand’s Consuelo bag) into a series of leather desk trays, calling the collection There’s a Home for Everything. Then, he took inspiration from the ethos of French Modernist Designer Jacques Adnet who often fashioned leather home goods into simple silhouettes.
