Infineon and Marelli Unveil Groundbreaking MEMS Laser Display Technology for Automotive Cockpits at Auto Shanghai 2025 | Machine Maker – Latest Manufacturing News | Indian Manufacturing News – Latest Manufacturing News | Indian Manufacturing News

Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY), a global leader in semiconductors for power systems and connected devices, has joined forces with Marelli, a major player in automotive systems manufacturing, to introduce a breakthrough in vehicle interior design. Together, they are showcasing a next-generation MEMS-based laser beam scanning (LBS) display system that redefines cockpit experiences beyond traditional screen formats.

This advanced technology, developed using Infineon’s LBS platform, is being featured at Marelli’s exhibit during Auto Shanghai 2025 (Hall 1.2H, Booth 1BF009). The system enables highly immersive and flexible display configurations, empowering automotive manufacturers to push the boundaries of dashboard and infotainment design.

“As cockpit design rapidly evolves, the demand for high-performance optical display systems is increasing,” said Dr. Thomas Schafbauer, Head of Sensor and RF Business Unit at Infineon. “Our collaboration with Marelli accelerates the delivery of next-gen display solutions, giving automakers an edge in innovation and time to market.”

Joachim Fetzer, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Marelli, echoed the significance of the partnership: “Working with Infineon on MEMS LBS technology marks a pivotal shift in how automotive displays are conceived and built. This approach offers enhanced efficiency, design freedom, and a faster route from concept to production, helping us deliver distinctive cockpit environments for global automakers.”

Infineon’s MEMS LBS system is engineered to meet rigorous automotive standards. It is resilient against shocks and vibrations and meets ASIL-B functional safety requirements. The technology is housed in a compact, chip-scale package, enabling easy integration into diverse vehicle platforms.

Its energy-efficient design supports clear and vivid projections, even in bright environments, while also reducing power use and heat output—critical advantages for performance and safety in automotive settings. The system’s deep field of focus eliminates the need for complex optical adjustments, streamlining product design and integration.

These qualities allow automakers to craft custom cockpit layouts while maintaining a clear and information-rich user experience.

Infineon Technologies AG is a leading global semiconductor company focused on enabling a more sustainable and digitally connected world. With a workforce of over 58,000, Infineon generated revenues of approximately €15 billion in the 2024 fiscal year. The company is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (IFX) and traded in the U.S. under the ticker IFNNY.
