Influencer shares her favorite high-end fashion dupe

This season calls for new fashion and festive styles, but it’s difficult to invest in all the hottest style trends when you’re on a budget.

Considering many Americans are struggling to pay inflated prices across the board from rent to food and utilities, most are looking for ways to cut costs. Sure, we can adjust our thermostats and watch our grocery budgets, but we can’t control interest rates and surcharges, which means many of the top designer fashions are simply too expensive for most budgets this year.

But the holiday seasons, filled with gatherings and parties (which all happen shortly after Fashion Week), are a time when a lot of us look to jazz up our wardrobe and stay in step with the trends.

Kaitlin Stanley, the woman behind the @MommaModa TikTok account, has built an entire platform around fashion and budget-savvy dupes for even the most expensive designer items.

“I absolutely love finding high-end dupes for my followers,” Stanley told Newsweek. “In this economy, it is extremely difficult to find quality fashion at a reasonable price,”

From her own research, Stanley is able to find items that replicate the most high-end styles while still being affordable, good quality and on-trend, she said.

While many new fashion looks are certain to capture shoppers’ attention this winter season, Stanley has one ultimate dupe that those who love Uggs can budget for this month.

Ugg unveiled its collaboration with New York-based retailer Opening Ceremony for a brand new Tasman Slipper this year, but the item is priced at a whopping $110, meaning the luxury footwear is out of reach for many Americans trying to stretch their dollar this holiday season.

Luckily for shoppers, however, the Temu brand has a far more affordable option available that looks nearly identical to the beloved Uggs brand slipper.

The shoe dupe is listed in both black and khaki for just $11.52 on the Temu site, but it could potentially pass for the far more expensive Ugg item. Shoppers who buy the Temu dupe would therefore be saving a total of around $100.

Stanley has also found many other dupes for the winter season, including a dupe of a Frame dress worn by Selena Gomez as well as a Prada loafer dupe, which she plans to reveal on her TikTok.

“With this holiday season approaching I want everyone to get the most from their money,” Stanley said. “Who doesn’t love a bargain?”

More Holiday Outfit Trends

Stanley, who has nearly 30,000 followers on TikTok, has plenty of other advice for shoppers looking to make their money count for this holiday season’s fashion.

Those looking for the oversized scarves that made a splash last year might be disappointed to find out that many of the top brands charge $300 each.

But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fashion style this year.

“These from Urban Outfitters are much more reasonably priced at $35, and they also come in lots of colors,” Stanley said.

Some stores invariably will charge consumers high prices for the brand name, but there are several more affordable retailers waiting to be discovered, Stanley said.

“Anthropologie, we love it,” she said. “They have the cutest things, but it can be very pricy. So instead, you might want to try a store like Asos, which has really cute things and you can even find them on Nordstrom.”

Free People is another hotly coveted brand, but Stanley said, “our wallets don’t always love it.”

Another option is Lulus, which also boasts unique sets but at a more reasonable price, Stanley said.

“If you love Zara but you’ve noticed the prices have been going up a little bit, you might like NA-KD better,” Stanley said. “The prices of literally everything is going up right now, so we need this.”

There are also trends you should be aware of that might be different this season.

For instance, beige pantyhose is out while colored tights are in, Stanley said in a recent video.

“Sheer tights are also in with all different patterns, bows… Anything and everything goes for this season,” Stanley said.

Pops of metallic are also preferred over entire metallic looks, the fashion influencer said. She also advised viewers to stay away from any clothing that’s uncomfortable this season.

“A two-piece knit suit is going to keep you warm,” Stanley said. “It’s comfortable and on-trend.”

Little black dresses have remained nearly timeless in the fashion world, but Stanley said you should also expect some shifts in what exactly appears ‘runway ready.’ Expect sheer and asymmetry to be more common in this year’s portfolio.

“A little black dress with a twist would have some sort of detail or feature that makes it a little more fun,” Stanley said.
