Intimate Slabtown venue CoHo Theatre is expanding to twice its size

More than two decades after CoHo Theatre first opened in Northwest Portland, the intimate performance venue is doubling in size this fall, adding 4,000 square feet of offices, storage and rehearsal space to its existing 99-seat auditorium.

The expansion will bring together three local theater companies under one roof: CoHo Productions, Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble and Third Rail Repertory Theatre. Construction began in August, and the expanded center, located at both 2257 and 2259 N.W. Raleigh St., is expected to open its doors in November. In the meantime, the original CoHo Theatre space will continue to put on shows.
