What to know: Both teams opened with convincing wins. The Hawkeyes are 1-0 for the 24th consecutive season after whipping Fairleigh Dickinson, 102-46, Monday. Virginia Tech handled High Point, 94-55.

It’s a matchup of two 2023 Final Four teams; LSU defeated Virginia Tech in the national semifinals in Dallas, then took down the Hawkeyes in the championship game.

Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley (a 6-foot-6 post) are likely first-team All-Americans. Clark posted 28 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists in Iowa’s season-opening win; Kitley has 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Hokies.

Clark is 59 points away from Megan Gustafson’s Iowa career scoring record of 2,804 points.

Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke (22 points) and Sharon Goodman (19) made the most of their first career starts Monday.
