BURLINGTON, Iowa — Herky on Parade is officially being recognized as one of the state’s top tourist attractions for 2025.
The Iowa Travel Industry Partners (iTIP) announced Monday that the Think Iowa City Herky on Parade project is this year’s winner of the Large Market Arts, Culture and Heritage Award. The award honors an organization that showcases arts and culture in a way that enhances tourism and supports the community’s economic well-being.
“The iTIP Foundation Awards are designed to shine a light on the individuals, organizations, and initiatives that are making a measurable difference in growing Iowa’s visitor economy,” said Chelsea Lerud, Executive Director of Iowa Travel Industry Partners (iTIP). “Each award tells a story of innovation, commitment, and impact – and it’s an honor to recognize the people who make Iowa a remarkable place to visit, explore, and enjoy.”
2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the Herky on Parade project, which unveiled 100 new Herky statues across Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, Tiffin, University Heights, and other parts of Johnson County.
