Is Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling Currently Filming ‘Barbie 2’?

The Barbie movie with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling was a hit in its first week, and now people want to know, “Will there be a sequel to the Greta Gerwig-directed movie?”

The Hollywood Reporter says that the movie is “only days away” from making $1 billion at the international box office. On Thursday, August 3, 2023, it passed $900 million.

The movie did well at the box office, and its clever marketing helped it become as famous as a pop culture movement.

Also, a week before Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came out in theaters, Paramount Pictures confirmed that it would be making a sequel.

The news source said that the future of a Barbie movie is uncertain because of a big reason. Writers and actors are currently on strike, which has stopped all big projects from being made or promoted. Warner Bros, which is also a big target of the SAG-AFTRA strike, is in charge of the Barbie movie.

THR says that if the chance to make a sequel to the popular movie comes up, Robbie, Gosling, and even the highly acclaimed director Greta Gerwig may not be back.

In an interview with the New York Times, the director was asked if she is thinking about making a second movie.

“At this moment, it’s all I’ve got,” she told the news source. “I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea, and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.”

Robbie is not required to play the title part again, but she could come back as a producer if she wants to. On the other hand, Gosling has no deal for a follow-up.
