Is this the world’s most astonishing music archive?

The ARChive of Contemporary music in New York has over 3 million records — 90 million songs — and an astonishing range of music memorabilia.

The private collection’s calibre is compared to the Smithsonian.

It’s backed by a passionate community of private donors, and it’s current board of advisors includes Martin Scorsese and Keith Richards, and past members include the likes of David Bowie and Lou Reed.

But the mammoth archive needs a new home.

Bob George is the collection’s co-founder and current director, and he spoke with Raf Epstein about that search.
