BLACKPINK’s Jennie is the highest-generating MIV (Media Impact Value) celebrity voice across the fashion, lifestyle, and beauty space on Instagram for 2023, according to Launchmetrics. On Thursday, October 26, Launchmetrics, which is a reputed data company, released a new report sharing exclusive information about celebrities’ MIV, in which the SOLO singer has emerged in the top rank.
In simpler terms, Jennie Kim of BLACKPINK was the most discussed and spoken about celebrity, with trending hashtags, exclusive pictures, and detailed coverage dedicated to her. At present, she is the brand ambassador for Chanel, Calvin Klein, Adidas, and other reputed Korean brands. The Pink Venom singer boasts $25.4 million in MIV on Instagram, the second highest overall and the first among celebrity rankings.
Jennie’s fans take to X to express their pride in the BLACKPINK star
For those unfamiliar, like every year, the software and data company Launchmetrics curated Media Impact Value numbers (MIV) for the fashion, lifestyle, and beauty industry (FLB). Unsurprisingly, Instagram has emerged as the go-to medium for marketing and communication for brands in the FLB sector.
Launchmetrics collaborated with Lyst to explore “Beyond Followers: Exploring Instagram’s Influence on Brand Performance.” The comprehensive report revealed that Instagram is the go-to channel for brand amplification in the FLB segment.
The photo-sharing app accounted for $16.9 billion of MIV, which is a staggering 57 percent of the social media platform’s hold on the FLB segment. Although Vogue US reigned at the top spot in the fashion category with $83.2 million worth of MIV on Instagram, Jennie of BLACKPINK emerged as a celebrity voice with the highest-generating MIV.
Jennie boasts of being the top-earning celebrity voice with $25.4 million in MIV. The You & Me singer clocked $2.6 million in MIV per Instagram post for the French luxury fashion house Chanel and $3 million in MIV per post for sports brand Adidas for their Campus ’00s campaign.
BLINKs expressed their pride and took to social media to share their reactions.
BLACKPINK members Jisoo and Lisa have been ranked as the top two celebrity voices for elite brands in the FLB segment. BLACKPINK’s oldest member, Jisoo, is the brand ambassador for Dior, the top-performing luxury brand in the FLB sector. In the jewelry and watches sector, the FLOWER singer earned $1.9 million in MIV for Cartier.
In the same category, BLACKPINK’s youngest member, Lisa, clocked $2.1 million in MIV for Bulgari as the brand’s global ambassador. Not only that, Lisa ranked second to The Idol star, earning $2.5 million in MIV for Cartier.
In the same report, Launchmetrics and Lyst revealed that in recent years, APAC, or Asia-Pacific, countries like India, South Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand have allowed Instagram to thrive on celebrity voices.
Alison Bringé, CMO at Launchmetrics shared:
“There’s been a huge rise in Korean and Indian stars over the last few years. Even though they’re influencing that market specifically, they’re influencing all over the world. […] They’re quite socially savvy and we know that their followers are socially savvy which also drives a lot more for performance when it comes to Media Impact Value.”
Jennie dominates the Billboard charts with her latest single You & Me
Jennie’s second solo single, You & Me, is spending its second week on Billboard’s Global 200 Chart. The BLACKPINK star has ranked first on the Billboard Global Excl. US chart and seventh on the Billboard Global 200 chart. This is her second solo single after releasing SOLO in 2018.
In other news, rumors are rife that BLACKPINK’s Jennie might part ways with YG Entertainment and set up her own independent agency.
