IUP CIO HONORED WITH AWARD FROM TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL PLANNING NEWSLETTER

IUP’s Chief Information Officer has been selected as University Technology Leader of the Year by an online newsletter for leaders in technology and digital planning.

CIO Bill Balint is the second person to receive the award that honors the most influential people and projects in the higher education technology community.  Over 250 leaders and projects were nominated for the awards from EdScoop, who whittled the list down to a top 85.  The winners were selected by the publication’s readers, who cast over 240,000 votes for this year’s contest.

Balint has been with the university since his graduation in 1989 and worked his way up to CIO in 2006.  He also serves as Technical Executive, Central Administration IT Team for the State System of Higher Education’s strategic information management system.

In a statement, Balint called the honor a tribute to the IUP IT services team, and said it was wonderful to see IUP represented alongside some of the biggest names in higher education, saying that the recognition was possible with the support of IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll and Provost Laura Luetkehans.
