BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is hiring part-time automotive technology instructors to teach eight-week courses. Day or evening classes are available and are held two times per week. The pay rate per class is $46.50 per hour for a total of 64 hours, and classes begin on August 19.
The initial commitment is only eight weeks, with the opportunity to teach more classes if interested. Courses are held at the Ivy Tech automotive garage located in a converted airport hangar at the Monroe County Airport on Kirby Road.
Course topics include:
- Basic automotive service
- Electrical systems
- Brake systems
- Steering and suspension
- Engine performance systems
- Driveline systems
- Engine fundamentals and repair
- Climate control systems and more
Teacher requirements include five years of experience in the field and a willingness to earn ASE certifications, with testing paid for by the college.
