Jack Black Presents a Surprising Tribute to Ac/dc with the Foo Fighters

With a little help from Jack Black, the Foo Fighters paid tribute to one of the greatest rock bands.

Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters returned to Australia and New Zealand on Saturday, January 20, at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium, after a month-long absence.

Throughout their time in Australia, the band has paid tribute to the late Bon Scott of AC/DC by performing a cover of Big Balls, one of their most contentious rock songs.

According to Rolling Stone, the Foo Fighters frequently rely on their drum tech, Fiona Jeans, to deliver Scott’s humorous remarks about holding lavish parties, or “big balls.”

However, Jeans had a surprise guest for the Saturday show: Jack Black.

The 54-year-old actor and singer wanted to add rock vigour to his performance while filming the upcoming Minecraft feature in New Zealand.

In concert footage taken by fans, Black is seen dancing to the song’s first lyric while wearing a tie-dyed shirt with a rising phoenix and matching shorts.

“I’m upper-upper class high society,” they sing before handing over the microphone to Black, who adds that they are “God’s gift to ballroom notoriety.”

Jeans takes over, singing, “Always fill my ballroom / The event is never small / The social pages say Jack’s got the biggest balls of all.”

Black encouraged the audience to sing along to the chorus, displaying the rock fervor he usually reserves for gigs with his band, Tenacious D. The fans returned home ecstatic after an unexpected and unforgettable rock experience.
