James Corden Apologizes for Misquoting Blackpink’s Achievement

The Very Late Show James Corden says he’s sorry after fans pointed out that he got a fact about the K-pop group Blackpink wrong. The band was the most recent guest on Carpool Karaoke.

James brags that they are the first Korean pop group to top the Billboard 200 album chart. BTS fans quickly pointed out the error and complained that the material was too nebulous.

Blackpink was the first K-pop girl group to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 list, but they were the fourth group overall to do so, after BTS, SuperM, and Stray Kids. They said James and his team were bad because they didn’t do enough study and erased BTS’s accomplishments.

Soon after, the show apologizes on Twitter, writing, “Sooooo we made a mistake in our BLACKPINK Carpool Karaoke last night. We wrongly gave James a card to read that said BLACKPINK was the first K-POP group to land at #1 on the US album charts when that honor belongs to BTS. BLACKPINK was, of course, the first female K-POP group to accomplish this feat. So sorry for the mixup. We love both of these incredible groups and their fans!”
