James Sutton’s life took a turn he didn’t expect when he and his wife, Rachael Collin, broke up.

The Hollyoaks star, who is 40 years old and best known for playing John Paul McQueen on the Channel 4 soap opera, said that their split was “very sad but friendly.”

They met at Glastonbury Festival and got married there in 2018. After five years of marriage, they are now going their different ways.

James told MailOnline about the breakup, “Rachael and I had a wonderful relationship and marriage. It was very sad but amicable, and we remain friends.”

During the Covid-19 lockdown, their relationship was said to have become “tense,” so they chose to end it quietly.

A person told The Mirror, “James and Rachael have enjoyed a really happy marriage but, as many couples can relate to, their relationship became strained during lockdown. James is in the public eye, whereas Rachael prefers to be out of the spotlight and, after eight fantastic years together, they decided they were better off as friends.”
