Jamesville-DeWitt junior Mona Farah earned a victory in the opening round of the New York State girls tennis championships on Thursday at Central Park in Schenectady.

Farah, Section III’s individual singles champion, earned a round-of-32 victory in two sets (6-1, 6-0). She then lost in two sets (6-2, 6-2) in the round of 16.
