Rock ’N’ Roll Saviors
Green Day—the biggest rock ’n’ roll band from the East Bay—is back with a new album this month. Saviors, out January 19, is jam-packed with the band’s signature hooks and lyrical attitude, and the songs “The American Dream Is Killing Me” and “Look Ma, No Brains!” are sure to be instant classics. Vinyl fans should check out the different colored LP versions available on the band’s website, while live music fans should grab tickets to the band’s concert with the Smashing Pumpkins and Rancid at Oracle Park in September. greenday.com.

Blackhawk’s New Cinema
Movie fans mourning the closure of the Century Blackhawk Plaza multiplex just over a year ago have a reason to celebrate. Blackhawk Plaza recently worked out a deal with Apple Cinemas to build a state-of-the-art film complex at the retail center. The new multiplex will feature 4K projection and Dolby Atmos sound, and will be the first California cinema for the chain, which is based in the northeast and has no connection to the tech company. Blackhawk Plaza will also welcome Combat Sports Academy, a fitness center offering everything from CrossFit training to Brazilian jiujitsu and mixed martial arts.
Tri-Valley Laughs
Livermore’s Bankhead Theater is loading the first month of 2024 with lots of laughs. Tri-Valley Theatre Company will present seven performances of the comedy Legally Blonde the Musical between January 13 and 28. Additionally, Saturday Night Live alum Kevin Nealon will perform stand-up comedy at the venue on January 26. livermorearts.org.
