Jay area Meals on Wheels doubles in size due to increased need
“Need is definitely at an all time high,” says Meals on Wheels director of nutrition services
The Seniors Plus Meals on Wheels has changed locations. The organization has doubled in size, from their distribution center in Livermore, to a new location in the Jay Plaza. “Services are growing we needed a new space,” says the director of nutrition services, Janis Walker. Walker says more and more Mainers are inquiring about Meals on Wheels services, adding, “The need has increased because the cost of living has increased.” Seniors Plus Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver 3,500 home cooked meals per week to seniors and adults with disabilities living in Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin County.
