Jeanne Mary Humble (Wells), born on March 17, 1941, in Jamestown, NY, departed this world on November 22, 2023. A woman whose life was a testament to dedication, love, and unwavering commitment, Jeanne leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a profound impact on the lives of those she touched.

Jeanne was a wonderful true friend to all, a dutiful daughter, supportive sister to Cynthia Lou Bravo (Wells), William Crofoot Wells, and Rachel Elaine LaVenice (Wells), devoted wife to her husband of 64 years, Fred Humble; a wonderful mother to Scott Humble, Kelly Dill (Benjamin), and Melanie Zaboth, and loving grandmother and honored to be a great-grandmother. Jeanne also took delight in time with her many nieces and nephews. Every family member knows and aptly describes their relationship with Jeanne as one that holds a very “special and precious bond” forever.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Florence M. Wells (Crofoot) and Clarence W. Wells; her sister, and Rachel; and her granddaughter, Morgan Humble.

Jeanne’s lifelong journey of faith was marked by her active involvement in the church, starting from Hurlbut Memorial in Chautauqua, NY, and extending to various Christian communities later in life. As a Sunday school teacher and active parishioner, she shared her deep-rooted spirituality and nurtured the faith of others, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all.

From a young age, Jeanne displayed intelligence and an unyielding work ethic. Alongside her husband, she worked at Chautauqua Provisions, contributing to their shared endeavors. Other employment she enjoyed was at Wells Home Laundry and Brigiotta’s where her hard work and dedication shone brightly.

Prior to her professional pursuits, Jeanne was an outstanding student, graduating with honors from Chautauqua Central School in 1959. Her school years were marked by active participation in various activities, from cheerleading to student government, showcasing her well-rounded character and zest for life.

Known for her devotion, love, and thoughtfulness, Jeanne’s radiant spirit extended to her passion for thrifting and her exceptional talent as a master gardener. Her “green thumb” brought life and beauty to the world around her, creating vibrant landscapes that mirrored the love she poured into every aspect of her life.

Jeanne’s kitchen was a place of warmth and nourishment, a reflection of the love she poured into everything she did. Her family and friends cherish the memories of her delicious meals and baked creations. She enjoyed making special birthday creations for her grandchildren.

But beyond her achievements and talents, what truly set Jeanne apart was her genuine care for others. Her words were thoughtful, her heart was beautiful, her smile was radiant, and her laugh brought joy to anyone who heard her amusement. Anyone who had the privilege of spending time with her recognized the depth of her goodness and the sincerity of her compassion.
