According to an anonymous source, it has been confirmed that Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and Emmy-winning journalist Lauren Sánchez are now engaged.

On May 22, Bezos’s sister, Christina Bezos Poore, and her husband, Steve Poore, joined the two to celebrate their engagement at La Petite Maison in Cannes, France.

During the meal, the group ate zucchini blossoms with Parmesan cheese and drank a €4,000 (about $4,285) bottle of small-batch red Burgundy wine called Dugat-Py Grand Cru from Domaine Bernard that wasn’t on the menu.

Even though they were in a very nice place, the person said the group was happy but didn’t want to make a fuss.

Recently, the billionaire and Sánchez have been spending a lot of time together on Bezos’s new yacht, visiting the South of France, and going to the Cannes Film Festival.

A ring was noticed on Sánchez’s finger when she was on the yacht, and it was later revealed to be an engagement ring. Jewelry appraiser Briony Raymond estimates that the “25-30 carat” diamond ring may fetch “anywhere from $3 million to upwards of $5 million.”

Bezos and Sánchez went public with their relationship in January 2019, not long after Bezos announced he was divorcing MacKenzie Scott, with whom he has four children.

At the time, Sánchez was also getting a divorce from Patrick Whitesell, her husband of 13 years and the father of her two children.
