Miller’s Girl, starring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman, has received criticism for include several X-rated sequences, which have turned off many viewers.

The Wednesday actress, 21, and the Sherlock star, 52, co-star in an erotic thriller set to be released on January 26. Ortega plays Cairo Sweet, an 18-year-old student, while Martin portrays her teacher, Jonathan Miller.

In the film, the two become involved in an inappropriate relationship as she attempts to seduce him. Ortega and Martin, who have a 31-year age gap, share some personal scenes.

According to intimacy coordinator Kristina Arjona, Ortega was “comfortable” recording all of the scenes and “very sure of what she wanted to do.”

“There [were] many, many people throughout this process, engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with,” Arjona said in an interview with The Daily Mail. “And she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do.”

Arjona explained that her role included “supporting” Ortega’s actions and “adapt to whatever is the comfort level,” particularly when there is a huge age gap, as well as ensuring that performers “give continuous consent.”

“I’m hyper aware of both of my talent and making sure that we’re consistently checking in and that at no point are any of their boundaries being surpassed,” she went on to say.

The film depicts Ortega’s Cairo composing an intimate adult short story when her teacher assigns her a creative writing assignment. As a result, the key characters develop a complex and unsuitable relationship.
