Jimmy Carter Expected To Travel To Atlanta For Rosalynn Carter’s Memorial Services

The Carter Center said Monday that former President Jimmy Carter is expected to travel to Atlanta as part of the three days of memorial services for former first lady Rosalynn Carter.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to report the news after a spokesperson at the Carter Center confirmed the news.

It is unclear if Carter was in Atlanta already or if he would travel to the city on Tuesday.

The news comes after he was absent from the family motorcade to transfer the former first lady early Monday.

Rosalynn’s hearse is expected to arrive in Atlanta on Monday afternoon. The motorcade will then travel to Emory University’s campus on Tuesday for a memorial service that President Joe Biden will attend.

It will return to Plains, Ga., for a funeral service on Wednesday before a burial.

The former first lady passed away on Nov. 19 at the age of 96 just days after it was announced she entered hospice. Her husband, 99, entered hospice earlier this year.
