Jodie Comer Takes Home the Tony for Leading Actress in 2023

At the 2023 Tony Awards, Jodie Comer, who is known for her part in Killing Eve, won the prestigious Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Play. The award was given to her because of how well she did in the one-woman Broadway show Prima Facie.

Comer thanked playwright Suzie Miller for her amazing work, which brought the character to life, and said she was grateful.

Ariana DeBose, an actor who has won an Oscar, presided over the Tony Awards in New York. But because of the current Hollywood writers’ strike, DeBose chose to go off script.

In her opening act, she made fun of the fact that she didn’t have a script by flipping through empty pages called “script.”

Several award winners, like Best Leading Actress in a Musical winner Victoria Clark, spoke out in support of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. This showed how important writers are to the business as a whole.
