The John Lewis Partnership, known for its department store chain John Lewis and supermarket Waitrose, has introduced a new lifestyle brand titled ‘Made With Care.’ This venture aims to amalgamate design and desirable products and apparel curated by designers and creators who have grown up in the care system. Moreover, it strives to offer a platform for individuals with backgrounds in the care system, fostering their talent and potential.
Sharon White, the chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, emphasised that their new brand will serve as a creative canvas for gifted individuals who have experienced the care system. Each design will narrate a unique and poignant story, allowing customers to acquire products imbued with meaningful narratives.
The inaugural product under this brand is a tote bag designed by Michael Archibald, an 18-year-old aspiring artist from Glasgow. This tote bag will be available for purchase at John Lewis and Waitrose starting 11th December. The proceeds from these totes will contribute to the ‘Building Happier Futures’ employability initiative by the group. This initiative, established a year ago, focuses on providing employability programs for those with care experiences.
