Talks surrounding Johnny Depp’s return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise have taken a fresh turn after it was revealed that the actor had been offered a part in which he would not play the lead.

According to a post on X by well-known leaker MyTimeToShineHello, the new location for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was Haiti, and there would be a Haitian female protagonist.

The report also stated that Depp was not offered his titular role as Captain Jack Sparrow.

“I looked into it and Pirates of Caribbean 6 will be set in part in Haiti and the female protagonist will be Haitian.”

This development coincided with news that The Bear star Ayo Edebiri was in talks to take on the lead role after Depp was fired by Disney after being accused of domestic abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

After proving the charges incorrect in a highly public libel battle in the United States, fans hoped to see the actor return to the big screen in his legendary role.
