Jonathan Majors doesn’t appear to be getting out of the assault case anytime soon, as the actor’s criminal trial continued in a Lower Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday.
Grace Jabbari, his ex-girlfriend, is due to testify that the Emmy-nominated actor abused her.
Prosecutors charged the Creed III star with assaulting Jabbari earlier this year after the latter claimed to have discovered a text message from a different woman on his phone.
Majors is charged with misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment, and harassment. On March 25, he was apprehended. If convicted, the actor could face up to a year in prison. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
Throughout her testimony, Jabbari, 30, regularly burst into tears as she recalled the highs and lows of their two-year romance. It is expected that she will describe the alleged attack later in her testimony.
Majors, 34, sat at the defense table in New York City Criminal Court with a Bible in his hand and his current girlfriend Meagan Good beside him. Meagan Good has been present for every day of the proceedings.
They met in August 2021 while working as movement teachers for Jabbari and starring in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was filmed in London.
The early stages of their relationship were “amazing,” according to Jabbari, a professional dancer who lives in the United Kingdom.
“He was really kind and loving. He told me he loved me very early on, which was overwhelming, but I loved it. And I loved him. He wrote me poetry. I felt very loved and cared for and seen,” she admitted to the jurors.
When she first remembered Majors getting unhappy with her, she was on her way to meet his dogs in December 2021. She claimed Majors chastised her for bringing up a former boyfriend’s cat.
“It was the first time I felt scared of him,” she told me. “I knew to never mention my ex again or anyone I had dated before.”
Jabbari described another event that occurred in June 2022, while she and her friends were in England for the Glastonbury Festival.
She told her partner that she wouldn’t have mobile service due of the crowds, and she alleges Majors became irritated when she didn’t.
“He sent me a ton of messages saying I shouldn’t be there and how dare I go,” she told me.
Much more will be revealed in the ongoing testimony.
