Jonathan Majors had his first interview on Monday after being found guilty of misdemeanour assault and harassment in an incident involving his ex-partner Grace Jabbari.
During an interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, Majors expressed his amazement at the judgement, which carries a possible one-year term. He refused to accept any responsibility for Jabbari’s injuries.
When ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis continually questioned Majors about Jabbari’s injuries, Majors initially stated, “I wish that I knew,” when asked how the injuries were caused.
Then asked if he was accountable for the injuries. Majors stated: “I shouldn’t have been in the car. I shouldn’t have stepped out of the relationship. I shouldn’t have been in the relationship,” he admitted. “If I’m not in the car, none of this is happening.”
When asked again if he was blaming simply that and not her injuries, he replied, “Can’t say that. None of her injuries.”
The charges stem from an event that occurred on March 25, 2023, while Majors and his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari were in a car. According to Jabbari’s evidence, Majors ripped her finger off the phone, grabbed her arm and right hand, twisted her forearm, and struck her head in an attempt to get the phone from her. Jabbari claimed to have spotted a text message on Majors’ phone that said, “Oh how I wish to be kissing you.” Regarding the harassment incident, she alleged that he later threw her back into the car.
The actor was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree, a misdemeanour, and harassment in the second degree, a violation, after a two-week jury trial in December.
