Joseph Ryan appointed vice president for finance at Wilson College


 

CHAMBERSBURG — Wilson College has appointed Joseph Ryan as its new vice president for finance and administration, according to a news release.

Ryan, who will begin his role Feb. 1, brings nearly two decades of experience in higher education to the position. He has held various leadership roles at Temple University and at the University of Delaware, where he currently serves as the chief financial and administrative officer at the College of Engineering.

In his new role, Ryan will work closely with Wilson College President Wesley R. Fugate and other senior administrators to manage the college’s operating budget, financial accounting and endowment, as well as risk and contract management.

“As we begin the development of a new strategic plan to help the college thrive into the future, we sought a strategic leader who understands the challenges facing higher education and brings a record of successfully navigating an institution to a position of strength,” Fugate said in the release. “Joseph is a creative thinker who will be able to provide proactive solutions. He has a deep understanding of analytical forecasting and facilities management, which will be critical to our future success.”

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from The Pennsylvania State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Business Analytics from Temple University.

“I am excited to join the Wilson family and look forward to working with President Fugate, the faculty and staff, and everyone in the Wilson community to continue the great work already being done, as we build together to position the college for a strong and successful future,” Ryan said in the release.

Wilson College, founded in 1869, is a private liberal arts college offering bachelor’s degrees in 34 majors and 40 minors, as well as graduate degrees in various fields. The college achieved its highest total enrollment in history for fall 2024.
