Josh Brolin Did Not Appear in ‘Deadpool’ Because of Ryan Reynolds

Josh Brolin may not reprise his villainous role from the Deadpool films.

In an interview with Collider while promoting Dune: Part Two, Brolin hinted at his likely absence from the future Deadpool film.

When approached by the site about reprising his role as the villain in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, the actor joked, “No. I don’t know. Because Ryan [Reynolds] doesn’t like me? I don’t know.” After a little pause, he said, “Maybe.”

Brolin’s response to his role in the next film heightened the anticipation.

In Deadpool 2, where Brolin played Cable, Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson gathered a group of mutant outlaws to protect a little boy with mutant talents from a time-traveling cyborg.

Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in the X-Men universe in the next picture, which also stars Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Morena Baccarin, and Brianna Hildebran.

Reynolds said on Valentine’s Day that Emma Corrin will enter the Marvel universe, but he has confirmed that his friend Taylor Swift will not appear in the film.

In July 2023, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Jennifer Garner would reprise her role as Elektra, the assassin. In 2005, she played the character in a standalone film.

Deadpool and Wolverine will open in theaters around the world on July 26.
