Joyce Della McCord, 89, of Grand Rapids passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at Re-Purposed Assisted Living.

Joyce Della Manning was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Alpena to the late Walter and H. Edna (Smith) Manning. She worked at Child and Family Service of Northeast Michigan, retiring after 25-plus years. Joyce was a member of Word of Life Baptist Church until her move to Grand Rapids five years ago when she joined North Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are her five children, Nathaniel (Sunday) McCord, Timothy (Kim) McCord, Mark (Barbara) McCord, Peter McCord, Melanie (Mark) Waters; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five siblings, Bette Thompson, Gary (Karen) Manning, Mike (Sandy) Manning, Randy (Mary) Manning, Sue (Norm) Zolnierek; and sister-in-law Jeanette Manning.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Glen Manning; sister, Marlene Fetter; brother-in-law Paul Thompson and grandson, Joseph Nichols.

Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at North Park Baptist Church, 3365 Coit Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49525. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with service at noon. Also, a service will be held Dec. 1, 2023, at Word of Life Baptist Church, 1900 N. Bagley St., Alpena, Michigan, 49707 with visitation at 9 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Scott Joy officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
