ELK HORN — With snow flakes falling, runners were lining up to take off from Kimballton in the Naughty or Nisse 5K Polar Run on Saturday. The Little Mermaid was even getting in the holiday spirit, decked out with a variety of Christmas greenery, red ribbons, a scarf and silver ornaments.

Santa made an appearance at the Elk Horn Fire Hall during a benefit for “The Kids in the Village.”

And at the Danish Windmill the Christmas tree was decorated with little Danish flags and wood cut ornaments. There were also plenty of creative Danish gifts for those who were shopping on Small Business Saturday.

The Naughty and Nisse 5K Polar Run winners were: Logan Moore, coming in with a 21.57 time and Omar Sallak, winning the best costume.
