Deckbar’s photorealistic paintings “are focused on the natural world with a concern for its preservation. She breaks down elements in the landscape to dramatize the play of direct sunlight on forms and shapes.”
She artist earned a B.A. in painting and drawing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, along with an M.A. from San Francisco State University “where she was greatly influenced by photorealistic painter Robert Bechtle.” She went on to earn an M.F.A. at Tulane University and at the same time Deckbar was presenting her first solo show at a major museum.
Her work is included in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad, including a recent acquisition of her work by the Alexandria Museum of Art. “Deckbar’s paintings have appeared in numerous one-person and juried exhibitions across the U.S. She has received grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Pollack Krasner Foundation, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. In 2008, Deckbar published a book of her work with a grant from Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, ‘Continuum: Moving Through A Still Frame,’” the release said.
A selection of McCann’s intricate pastel drawings will be featured in the December exhibit. His work has been in numerous regional and national exhibitions, including Art Basel/Spectrum, in Miami, 2016; the 59th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, 2017; 2019 RAM Invitational at the Fort Smith Art Museum in Fort Smith; the 2019 National Exhibition: Reflections in Pastel in Little Rock; and “Dennis McCann: A History,” solo exhibition at the Laman Library Argenta Gallery, 2015. Along with participating in more than 200 exhibitions, his work is also included in many private and corporate collections. McCann earned B.A., B.S.E., and M.A. degrees from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.
Saladino “is highly respected for his expressive abstracts, landscapes, still-life constructions, and printmaking. His work has been included in notable public and private collections including the collections of Tyson Foods, Bicardi Limited, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Dallas, the Museum of Art and Archaeology of the University of Missouri, and the Museum of International Art in Brazil.”
He has also been featured in The New York Times, Southwest Art Magazine, The Artist’s Magazine, American Artist Magazine, the Best of Sketching and Drawing by Rockport Publishers, Enrich Your Paintings with Texture by David Band of North Light Books, and other publications.
