Kansas City, Kan. woman killed in crash involving car, semi near Strong City


CHASE COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) – A 26-year-old Kansas City, Kansas woman died from her injuries in a crash involving a car and a semi early Friday morning on U-50, about eight miles east of Strong City, in Chase County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said in the crash, reported a little after 6 a.m., a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling west on U-50 when it crossed the centerline and hit a semi on the highway’s south shoulder. The Sonic’s driver, Maria Munoz Alonso, died. The Kansas Highway Patrol said there was also a child or a teen in the car, described in the crash report only as a “juvenile.” The KHP didn’t specify if the passenger was injured.

The semi’s driver, a 53-year-old man from Lyons, was not seriously injured, the KHP reported.
