Adidas’s decision to sell some of the remaining $1.3 billion worth of Yeezy shoes was good for Kanye West, who will supposedly get $143 million.
After months of back and forth, the shoemaker brand decided to ship the shoes out to make up for the big losses it had to take when it fired Ye last year because of the antisemitism scandal.
The money from its sale will go “to selected organizations working to combat discrimination and hate, including racism and antisemitism.”
DigitalMusicNews says that West deserved an 11 percent cut of each sale of a Yeezy product, so he will get more than $140 million from the sales.
Also, the CEO of the company, Bjrn Gulden, said that the rapper would get royalties every time the shoes were sold.
In other news, Nike warned Adidas not to work with West, but Adidas disregarded the advice and kept working with the controversial rapper.
Bloomberg found out about the shocking news because the controversial rap star worked with Nike on his Air Yeezy shoes, which came out in 2009.
But in the end, Ye and the business had a fight.
At the time, the fashion magnate said that the multi-billion dollar company wouldn’t pay him royalties because he wasn’t a professional player.
But Nike’s four-year partnership with Ye was a success, as the last pair of $245 sneakers made with Ye’s help sold out in 11 minutes in 2014.
Conversely, Adidas teamed up with West in 2013, and their first shoe came out in 2015.
