Kanye West, the ever-enigmatic music chameleon, has released a chilling teaser trailer for his new album, Vultures.

The teaser, directed by famed digital artist Jon Rafman, is a dizzying collage of frightening visuals, including grinning clowns, wolves howling at the moon, explosions, and masked men in religious robes.

Naturally, there is a good bit of footage of vultures soaring ominously over the terrible scene.

The most stunning surprise comes at the end of the trailer, when it is revealed that Vultures will be a three-part story rather than a single album. The first volume will be released on February 9th, followed by the second instalment on March 8th and the third on April 5th.

West also shared the cover art for each volume on Instagram Stories, which are as enigmatic and eerie as the video itself.

This is hardly West’s first foray into the macabre. His 2013 album Yeezus explored themes of death and destruction, and the music video for his 2020 track Wash Us in the Blood depicted a nightmare of racial injustice.

However, Vultures appears to be taking his interest in the dark side to a new level.

The album is a collaboration with R&B singer and producer Ty Dolla $ign, and the two performed a surprise rendition of the title track at Lil Durk’s show in Dubai last November. The song is said to be a hard-hitting one, with West rapping about “how the vultures pick at the carcass of fame.”
