Kanye West’s Lawyer Wants Donda Academy’s Case Dismissed

Kanye West, who now goes by the name Ye, is being sued by teachers from his private Christian school, Donda Academy, in Southern California.

This week, Ye’s lawyer filed papers in court to try to get the case thrown out. Gregory Suhr, the lawyer, said it was not true that the school was portrayed as a “dystopian institution designed to satisfy Ye’s idiosyncrasies.”

In the case, which was filed in April, former teachers Cecilia Hailey and Chekarey Byers said that they were fired unfairly because they reported code violations. A third former teacher recently joined the lawsuit, making the legal fight even bigger.

The former teachers said that there were no cleaning services or medical staff at Donda Academy, which made the school look bad. They also said that forks, jewelry, and clothes that aren’t black or weren’t made by Ye were banned. The Black teachers also said that they were treated unfairly because of their race, weren’t helped when severely bullied, and that their paychecks were sometimes wrong by as much as $2,700.

In a recent statement, Ye’s lawyer said that Donda Academy would fight the accusations that Byers and Hailey had made. It was made clear that Ye was only responsible for false wage claims and had nothing to do with the school’s pay rules and procedures. In the filing, the accusations were called “meritless” and “barebones guilt-by-association theory.”

Ye’s lawyer didn’t talk about the accusations made by the third teacher because, he said, they had nothing to do with Ye.
