Walking into Kasee Jo Trading Co. on Main Street, you can feel the care and attention poured in the space of clothes, outfits and a few day dreams.
Kasee Powers, owner, said she and her husband are raising four kids near Comanche and that their home was the beginning of what you see.
“I had been selling out of my home and Facebook for about a while, in April it will be a year,” she said. “We outgrew the house and said if an opportunity presented itself in a good location, then we would entertain it. This just kind of fell in our laps and we thought it’s a great location. We felt like all the roads led here.”
Here being 825 W. Main Street, where Powers said they carry sizes small to 3x. Powers keeps her shelves on trend by shopping the industry “markets.” These are like trade shows for stores to see what they want to carry in their stores.
“That’s where I get them from. The clothes are things I think people will like,” she said. “I do carry Judy Blue — that’s a popular brand.”
The love of fashion is part of the reason Powers said she did this. The other part was how it made others feel.
“I love bringing fashion to women and finding the right size, so they feel comfortable in their skin,” she said. “I am trying to empower women to feel good in their skin. I also like that I can bring them something they will feel confident in, as they go out and about in their day.”
Powers said a great step on the path of loving yourself more was to not get stuck on the number on your tags.
“You can’t do that because the sizes are so different,” she said. “The sizes vary so much between brands – you can’t get caught up on the number.”
Getting a store hadn’t been the plan with sales going well online, but Powers knew the frustrations of online only.
“I know I have met a lot of people like me who want to see it, touch it, see how it fits on, and you don’t get to do that when you order online,” she said. “I am really big on service. I want them to be happy and pleased with their purchase. I want to find that right size but the main thing is how you feel — how you feel when you leave these doors. I want that to be a great experience, I want you to feel good in what you bought and wear.”
Powers hopes her online presence will just enhance the store that opened this month.
“The website is coming, I just have to upload pictures of my products and it will be ready,” she said. “I have a Facebook page and a group. All the things happen in the group — it’s ‘Kasee Jo Trading Co. VIP Group.’ That’s where I post the new arrivals, the sales, getting opinions on upcoming items. That’s a place to interact.”
