Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Win Court Battle Against Crippled Veteran

Katy Perry and her husband, Orlando Bloom, have won a three-year legal battle against a crippled veteran over the sale of his $15 million Montecito mansion.

Carl Westcott, 84, signed a real estate contract in July 2020, agreeing to sell the 8.9-acre estate in Santa Barbara to Perry.

However, he later claimed that he was under the influence of opiates and medications at the time of signing owing to significant back surgery.

Westcott, who has Huntington’s Disease, claimed that he only comprehended the ramifications of the pact after the effects of the painkillers worn off, forcing him to want to cancel the deal.

Nonetheless, on Wednesday, a Los Angeles judge decided in favor of the famous couple. Westcott produced no convincing evidence that he lacked the capacity to enter into a real estate transaction, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Joseph Lipner.

Perry’s attorney, Eric Rowen, told Rolling Stone, “The evidence shows that Mr. Westcott breached the contract for no other reason than he had changed his mind. We look forward to wrapping this matter up at the scheduled damage trial phase set for February 13 and 14, if not before.”

In addition to their legal triumph, Perry and Bloom have sought millions of dollars in missed rent from Westcott for the eight-bedroom mansion.
