KCRA Weekend Roundup: Sacramento area things to do for Oct. 27-29


It’s going to be a big sports weekend with the Sacramento Kings’ home opener against the Warriors and Republic FC in their conference semifinal on Friday night. But those aren’t the only games in town, so to speak. From Halloween-themed festivals and trunk-or-treat events to the Sacramento International Auto Show, the Golden Harvest Parade, concerts like Janet Jackson, Fuerza Regida and more, see below for a list of events. Before you head outdoors, though, check out our latest forecast. Windy conditions are expected, which could increase the fire danger in parts of Northern California. Sacramento Kings home openerThe Kings’ home opener against the Golden State Warriors at the Golden 1 Center tips off Friday at 7 p.m. Tickets aren’t cheap at this point but can still be found here. You could also head to a local watering hole like Tom’s Watch Bar to cheer on the Beam Team with a crowd.Republic FC playoffsSacramento Republic FC faces another win-or-go-home playoff match Friday, this time against San Antonio FC in the USL Championship Western Conference Semifinals. The last time the teams met, two San Antonio players, including their goalie, were sent off the field with red cards and several Republic players were injured. But the Republic came away with the win. The re-match begins at 7:30 p.m. at Cal Expo’s Heart Health Park. Tickets are available here. Janet JacksonJanet Jackson’s Together Again tour stops at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln on Friday. The show kicks off at 8 p.m. Get tickets here. Sacramento International Auto ShowThe Sacramento International Auto Show returns to Cal Expo for the first time in three years on Friday through Sunday. The event features historic models from manufacturers and collectors and has a kid’s zone, food areas, bounce houses and more. General admission costs $13 for adults, with proceeds benefiting children’s charities. Kids ages 12 and under are free. Learn more here. Golden Harvest Parade The second annual Golden Harvest Parade and Festival takes place Saturday on the Capitol Mall from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The multi-ethnic event features food vendors, an artwork contest, stage performances and more. Sacramento Black College ExpoRepresentatives from more than 50 colleges will be on hand at the Sacramento Black College Expo taking place at Sac State on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more here.
