KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said one person is dead after a wreck near Powell Wednesday. 

The wreck happened on West Emory Road near Holgate Lane, according to KCSO. 

Rural Metro Fire said two cars were involved in the crash. 

Knox County deputies are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible. The name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.

Emory Road is expected to be closed for about an hour for crash reconstruction, according to Rural Metro.
