KECA, Seneca Resources award two scholarships


BENEZETTE — The Keystone Elk Country Alliance recently presented the 2023 Conservation Education Scholarships, in partnership with Seneca Resources, Company, LLC, to Abbey Wolfe and Nolan Brahosky.

KECA and Seneca Resources LLC awards deserving Pennsylvania high school seniors continuing their education in the field of conservation, wildlife, science or education a college scholarship of $1,000. This is the fourth year for the annual scholarship. Each applicant is required to submit a portfolio with an essay about experiences in their lives that have inspired them to pursue the environmental field of studies, a letter of recommendation, and a letter of acceptance from a college or secondary education school.

Abbey Wolfe, of Loganton, is attending Colby College and majoring in biology with a focus in Ecology and Evolution. Nolan Brahosky, of Greensburg, is attending Frostburg State University and majoring in Geography and Earth Sciences.

KECA’s highest priority is conservation education. Through instilling its mission, “To conserve and enhance Pennsylvania’s Elk Country for future generations,” through education to others like Abbey and Nolan, we can ensure that Pennsylvania’s Elk Country will continue to thrive. We are proud to support our partners in conservation. Seneca Resources has been providing Pennsylvania with affordable energy and reliable jobs for more than 100 years and we are thrilled to partner with KECA and support Keystone Elk Country Alliance/Seneca Resources joint scholarship fund. “Environmental Stewardship and Professionalism are two of Seneca’s core values and this year’s recipients Noah and Abbey, epitomize these principles. The recipients desire and commitment to protect and enhance the environment through future their career paths and will be good stewards of the community and environment-a great investment for everybody,” said Lauren Adair, Stakeholder Relations, Seneca Resources.

With monies from both the Keystone Elk Country Alliance and Seneca Resources this scholarship will be awarded to deserving Pennsylvania high school seniors each and every year. Students who pursue careers in conservation are passionate about the well-being of our natural world. KECA believes in supporting those who embrace conservation and the enhancement of Pa.’s elk country for future generations.”
