Keke Palmer’s restraining order and custody filings appear to have taken a long time.
Palmer, 30, recently received a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson, as well as interim sole custody of their eight-month-old kid, but the filings were not unexpected.
In fact, a source recently told People Magazine that the new mother had previously given Jackson “a lot of chances to do the right thing” because she desired and “tried so hard to have an amicable split and arrangement [custody].”
However, the former collegiate athlete-turned-fitness coach apparently went on the same path, eventually forcing Palmer’s hand out of pure desperation.
“She needed to prioritize her safety and the safety of her baby,” said the insider. “She wants the best for Leo. She did not want it to get to this point. But she did what she had to do.”
The informant may have been referring to certain reported attacks caused by Jackson as recently as November 5th.
In documents obtained by Page Six and reinforced with surveillance images as evidence, Palmer explained how Jackson gripped her neck and pulled her down before fleeing the scene, nearly hitting her with his car, because she did not want their infant boy to go to a football game.
“Given Darius’ uncontrolled, violent outbursts in the past whenever he became jealous, I became seriously concerned he would hurt our son, even if it was just to hurt me,” Palmer wrote in her application for child custody.
