Kevin Costner ‘Finally’ Leaving ‘Yellowstone’

People say that Kevin Costner is going to take off his cowboy hat and leave Yellowstone. Entertainment Tonight says that Costner, who plays father John Dutton on the hit Paramount series, will leave the show after the fifth season.

There were rumors that Costner and Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan fought over the actor’s shooting schedule, so this news is a surprise. According to Deadline, Costner planned to film the first half of Season 5 for 65 days but ultimately only wanted to film for 50 days. When it came to filming the second half, he reportedly only wanted to spend one week filming.

ET also says that work on Season 5 has stopped because of the actor’s departure, and a return date hasn’t been set yet, which is causing “a lot of confusion and frustration” among the cast and crew. The drama doesn’t end there. News that Costner is leaving the show comes just a day after news that his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce.
