ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WBFF) — Kia owners looking to prevent your car from theft, the automaker is making good on a promise to provide free security system upgrades this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., a pop-up service center can be found in a parking lot outside of the Arundel Mills shopping center. Technicians will install anti-theft software designed to deter thieves from using methods made popular in a viral social media challenge, showing how easy the cars are to steal.

The event comes as Baltimore sees more than 9500 auto thefts this year, a more than 200% increase from this time last year. According to police, the majority of cars stolen are Kias and Hyundais.
