If it is Thanksgiving weekend in Grass Valley, it must mean Cornish Christmas is kicking off. For over half a century the city has hosted the outdoor street fair, and this year is no exception. Grass Valley Downtown Association Executive Manager, Robin Davies, said that in fact, this is the 55th annual, “It’s a step back in time. We have been celebrating our Cornish heritage and doing it at the most festive time of the year and it is a marvel to behold. Here we are, fifty-five years later.”
Cornish Christmas first took place in 1967 to preserve Grass Valley’s Cornish heritage and holiday traditions and remains one of the town’s most popular events. The Cornish Town Crier rings in the start of the event, kicking off this year on Friday, November 24, and runs each Friday through December 22.
