Kicky’s review: ‘Former Chapter One head chef’s new restaurant is buzzy and generous’

Our food critic is impressed by Eric Matthews’ short but very tasty menu at Dublin hotspot

Kicky’s opened softly a little over a week ago, in the space formerly home to San Lorenzo, inviting along a bunch of influencers and media folk for a free meal.

We book in for one of the first nights the restaurant is open to the paying public but Kicky’s feels as if it’s been here forever. There are familiar hospitality faces, including that of co-owner Richie Barrett, on the floor, and behind the pass at the end of the long room is the other owner, Eric Matthews, who was head chef at Chapter One under Ross Lewis until the arrival of Mickael Viljanen.
