MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) – This weekend marks the beginning of the Dow Tennis Classic in Midland.

To kick off the tournament, kids got a chance to learn to play tennis for free.

Instructors from the Greater Midland Tennis Center were out working with kids, part of the United States Tennis Association’s Kids Play Day. Saturday was an opportunity for kids of all ages to get out and get an energized tennis experience.

“This is for kids from kindergarten through sixth grade, and we’re going to do another play day for kids between sixth and 12th grade,” says Arnel Hipolito from the Greater Midland Tennis Center. ” Today, for about an hour and a half, we’re going to have some fun tennis drills with the kids, as well as have some pizza at the end.”

Other events included school visits from the pros and field trip matches at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
