Lake City man arrested after shooting at his ex-girlfriends car on I-75

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County Sheriff’s Officers have arrested a Lake City man after he shot at his ex-girlfriend’s car on I-75 near Gainesville on Friday morning.

Demarcus Marke Wilson, 28, is charged with firing a weapon from a vehicle, bringing a missile into a vehicle, and two counts of attempted murder in the first degree.

ASO officers say they responded to I-75 northbound near mile marker 401 after receiving reports of a possible shooting. Upon arrival, the officers met Valencia Harvin and Jahari James.

Harvin told officers she had attended a block party and saw Wilson, her ex-boyfriend, there. Harvin and James gave Wilson a ride back to his car, and during the drive Harvin received a call, causing Wilson to become irate and mentioning her messing with his feelings and playing games.

Harvin says after dropping Wilson off at his vehicle, he followed Harvin and James as they drove onto Newberry Road and almost caused them to crash. She says she got scared and started running red lights and drove onto I-75.

When Harvin went under the overpass of I-75, she heard the first gunshot and something hit her vehicle. She continued driving, and Wilson started firing at her car again around the 392-mile marker.

Harvin says that she broke up with Wilson three months ago and that there was a domestic violence history in their relationship. James also said that Wilson had an app on his phone that allowed him to track where Harvin was.

Officers say they were able to locate Wilson saw several spent shell casings in the vehicle and found a firearm in the vehicle’s glove box.

Wilson is currently out of jail on bond for an active Columbia County case.
