
Jacob Goodson and Xavier Hassan helped Lakeview start the basketball season with a victory.
Goodson scored 21 points and made four assists and Hassan canned 12 of 14 free throws on the way to 20 points in the Huskies’ 69-58 victory over South Lake in a Macomb Area Conference crossover game Tuesday night.
Hassan had a double-double that included 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals and Keonte Woolf made five steals and scored nine points for coach John Carr’s team. The Huskies made 13 of 16 foul shots in the fourth quarter.
Lakeview plays at Lamphere on Tuesday.
Warren-Mott 59, Lamphere 42
Sophomore Martino Haywood scored 20 points and senior Darian Miller 18 to lead Warren-Mott to the season-opening victory. Junior Wes Gilmore added 11 points and seven rebounds. Haywood also had four assists and four rebounds and Miller six rebounds. Senior Rylee Itoney took 10 rebounds.
L’Anse Creuse North 79, Anchor Bay 49
Andrew Kozel, a returning Macomb County all-star, scored 30 points to power L’Anse Creuse North, which led 48-24 at halftime. Lucas Clyne added 13 points and Brandon Thomas 12 for the Crusaders in their season opener. Drew Tappe scored 13 points for Anchor Bay.
Clarkston 52, Stevenson 43
Quinn Rosenberg scored 15 points and Peyton Fitzsimonds 11 for Clarkston in the non-league game. Mariano Manciel scored 21 points and Victor Campbell eight for Stevenson in its season opener.
Romeo 58, Port Huron 47
Aiden Kameron scored 17 points and Aiden Tague had 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead Romeo to the season-opening victory.
New Haven 81, South Lake 42
Zander Smith made six 3-point field goals and scored 24 points to lead New Haven. LeAndre Barnes had 15 points and six rebounds and Derian Williams added 14 points and five assists. Dario Hoxha chipped in with 10 points.
Almont 73, Flint Southwestern 41
Marko Radisavljevic scored 28 points and Owen Rayl had 18 to lead Almont. Asontae Malone scored nine for Southwestern.
